We love what we do, and we believe in each other. We know the happiest students have teachers who love what they do, and that's how we roll.
We pour our love, knowledge, and compassion into every event, class, and workshop and we are so excited to be part of a community with all of you.
Mat Collective has been made up of nearly 50 talented yoga teachers over the years and many of us have been doing this together for many years! We don't all teach every year -especially with Covid-19- so to start, but here are the bios of our members teaching right now.
HUMAN POWERED. HEART CENTRED.
Meet Your Collective
Hi, I'm Sarah! I joined the Mat Collective team in 2020 as the techy office operations person. I am an artist, entrepreneur and general skill-collecter who was lucky enough to end up in this amazing collective.
When I'm not fixing tech glitches and trying not to be too bossy, I design clothes for Foreij, Mat Collective's new sister company!
Hi, I’m Alexa!
I started practicing yoga over 8 years ago when an injury sidelined me from my dance career. I quickly fell in love with yoga as I realized how impactful the practice was on not only my physical health, but mental health as well. I primarily teach vinyasa yoga as I love quicker movements and getting my blood pumping- expect to work hard and have fun at the same time! I am also a naturopathic doctor and have a strong anatomy background so offer lots of variations & accessible options for every body.
When I’m not practicing yoga or seeing patients, catch me on the beach playing volleyball or baking up a storm.
Hi, I'm Briana!
I was drawn to yoga in university as a way to balance stress, and stayed for the connection between body, mind, and spirit. After learning how to bring my yoga off of the mat, I was drawn to teach and share this practice with others.
My yoga classes centre around listening to you own body, offering lots of options for different levels or injuries, and finding compassion for yourself for whatever is going on in your life. When not on the mat, I like to go for hikes, read at the pool, or go for a nature walk with my pup, Gizmo!
Hi, I’m Corinne.
I am originally from Ontario but call Kitsilano home. I’m grateful to live, work and practice yoga on the unceded shared territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh. I first practiced yoga nearly 20 years ago with my high school French teacher and have been hooked ever since! From friend dates to first dates, aerial to partner yoga, some of my favourite memories are yoga-based. In 2018, I became a registered yoga teacher and since then, have enjoyed building community through yoga.
When you join my classes you can expect a light-hearted, hatha flow experience with a variety of movement styles built in. We’ll connect to the breath, explore movement, build heat and find stillness. From young and young-at-heart, to first-time yogis or experienced practitioners, my classes are accessible to everyone.
Hi, I’m Drew, originally from Ontario now living in Mount Pleasant Vancouver. It was curiosity that brought me to yoga, curious as to how the postures of yoga can benefit the body and the mind. The grace of a slow practice also greatly appealed to me over a workout at the gym. After years of personal practice and 5 years teaching I can honestly say yoga has taught me more about how my body works and moves and how it doesn’t work and move :) The breath and meditative aspects have also helped me navigate many changes in my life.
My style can best be described as a gentle Vinyasa flow full of choice. I often start with a grounding to focus the mind, move into the physical practice where you are encouraged to check-in and observe the sensations in your body, we then end with final relaxation. My hopes are you will feel grounded in your body and clearer of mind by the end of class.
Hi, I'm Evanna!
I'm from Ireland originally and now based in Kitsilano. I discovered yoga as a teenager and the soothing power of the practice to harness the mind was what initially sparked my interest in yoga. I dipped in and out of the practice for years before finally committing, always returning to my mat because yoga is my grounding, my medicine for navigating the twists and turns of life and to help calm my busy mind.
I offer vinyasa, restorative, yin and slow flows and my classes honour the roots of this sacred practice in a way that's down to earth and accessible. I hold space for you to let go of judgement and go inwards, connecting to your breath, your body and your mind. Expect chilled, meditative vibes, an embodied practice and a great playlist so you can get truly connected.
Hi I am Isabela, I was born and raised In Beautiful British Columbia.
I came to Yoga after playing High Performance Beach Volleyball for several years, my body being exhausted looking for change. Once I did my teacher training it changed my life. Since then I have been able to dive deep in my body channelling what it needs.
I love to practice all types of Yoga especially Vinyasa. I want to create a safe and fun environment for my students to challenge their practice. Expect from my classes grounding mediations, sequences that leave you feel rejuvenated, and a breath of fresh air from your day. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Hi, I'm Lina!
I found yoga through an initial desire for movement, but it was an entry point that led me to become a teacher and embody various other life-changing practices. My goal is to help my students learn to trust their bodies and to be proud to inhabit them.
My style of teaching embraces mindful movements focused on improving mobility, body & spatial awareness, and bringing more play into the day. I want students to leave the mat feeling more open, mentally and physically. I see the physical practice as a method of empowering students to discover all the other amazing offerings of yoga.
I am also passionate about mental health and I always work to combine my knowledge about mental wellness with Asana. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, and I am in the process of completing my Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.
Hi, my name is Liv and I’ve been practicing yoga since I was 11 as a part of my swim training. That seems like a long time, but I every time I come to my mat, it feels like a brand new start and journey. I have been teaching since 2017, and teach in a fun, athletic, challenging style. My classes have options for everyone - all I ever want to do is have fun and play, so I bring that into every class! I’ll make you sweat a little, but hopefully I’ll also make you smile as we move together. I love dogs - so please bring your dogs to class with me!
Hi! I’m Lizzie – originally from the UK and based locally in Kitsilano.
I initially came to yoga because I thought I should, in order to balance out my running, but have gained more than I could have ever imagined through the movement and breath of yoga, both as a student and teacher.
If you join my classes you should expect a flowing, Vinyasa style classes in which I encourage folks to listen to what is going on in their body and move in response to this, taking what I offer and adapting it in their own way; a way which makes them feel good. My classes offer a chance to take a breath from whatever is going on in your world and flow through sequences that can be as strong or subtle as you want to make them.
For prenatal classes I have the same ethos and flowing sequences, but with more focus on adapting to your changing body, slowing everything down and bringing more attention to breathing.
Hola! I’m Lorena, a proud Mexicana living in Vancouver.
I’m a student & teacher of Yoga, Shamanism, and Ceremony facilitator. Yoga showed up in my life 12 years ago, and it quickly became a huge part of my life. With every class I took, I wanted to learn more about its philosophy & origins; I was fascinated by the connection between body, mind, spirit & nature that I never understood before. When I became aware of the effects the practice was having in my life, relationships, & way of viewing the world; I knew I wanted to share what I was learning every day. Today, my practice is my anchor, and I share from that experience.
If you join my class, expect to journey within through all layers of yourself, moving from dense to subtle. My classes are an opportunity to explore all that you are—using conscious movement, breath, meditation & sound as tools to source from inner wisdom. I aim to share these ancient practices as Sacred medicine to nurture the relationship with ourselves, others & our Earth, to reconnect with our true nature, and experience life from a space of love, courage, and truth.

Hello! I'm Richa.
I am originally from India and grew up practicing yoga as a cultural and spiritual practice. I now live in Vancouver and absolutely love it. I started practicing pranayama and dhyana as a child because my granddad forced me to but later found deep healing through it as I struggled with an autoimmune disorder.
In my classes, we will explore Hatha yoga and flows inspired by Hatha yoga, with incorporations of breathwork and deep relaxation through Yoga Nidra techniques. Yoga is for everyone and I encourage you to take my voice as facilitation, more than instruction, and go at your own pace to do what feels good within. My classes offer you a chance to take a break and feel at ease with your breathe and body. I hope you will join me in this endeavour.
Hi, I’m Sandra!
I’m a Vancouver native and currently reside in the beautiful neighbourhood of Kitsilano with my husband and two young children. I have been teaching yoga since 2015 and have a great respect for the practice as a student and teacher. My classes are designed for all levels and abilities, and will always allow for challenge by choice. I believe in listening to our bodies and hearts, and honouring where they are in the present moment. My favourite thing about Mat Collective is having the chance to flow outside in the beautiful settings of our city. I can’t wait to see you on your mat this summer!
Hi, I'm Sara!
I came to my first yoga class after battling with trauma and mental illnesses and found a deep connection within a year of practice which led me to get my RYT. I continue to practice daily for the physical strength and healing yoga provides me, as well as the positive community it brings together.
I teach vinyasa and yin yoga and value unique and creative sequences with focus on improving strength, mobility and flexibility. I combine a powerful flow with breath work and encourage students to work to their edge and play. Expect a short meditation, encouragement of props, with a big smile, allowing music, words, and poses to guide you through your own practice. Leave class feeling lighter, less stressed, and maybe one step closer towards your authentic self and ready to take on the rest of your day, week and life!
Hi, I'm Yosra.
I was born in Bahrain but immigrated to Canada when I was very young. I have lived all over the country but now call Vancouver home. My first introduction to yoga was when I was a child and through reading about kids yoga. I rediscovered yoga a few years ago and began to deepen my practice after experiencing the mental and physical benefits of a regular practice.
My classes are for all levels of experience, ages, and identities. Every body is welcome to join! My passion for mental health and holistic well-being inspires my classes as we focus on having a mindful practice. When I'm not doing yoga, you can find me playing with my cat Jinx, exploring Main Street, or cozying up with a good book.
